Mark Thakkar mainly works on 14th-century philosophy, with an emphasis on logic and science. He is also a lexicographer on the Dictionary of Medieval Latin from British Sources, a project that was first suggested in 1913 and is now scheduled for completion in 2013.
Mark read Mathematics & Philosophy at Balliol College, Oxford, before moving to London for an MA in Cultural & Intellectual History 1300–1650 at the Warburg Institute and an MSc in the History of Science, Technology & Medicine at Imperial. He then returned to Oxford, where he obtained a DPhil in Philosophy in 2010 with a thesis entitled ‘Peter Auriol and the Logic of the Future’. From 2008 to 2010 he was a Lecturer in Philosophy at Hertford College.
Back when he had spare time, he used to spend it solving and setting cryptic crosswords.
