Ted Busby

The College is sorry to report that Ted Busby, long-time servant of the College, died on Friday 16 December 2011. He was 86.

Ted started work at Lincoln in 1963. He served as a scout, as a Lodge porter, as the bar manager in Deep Hall and as Butler to the Senior Common Room. He retired from Lincoln in 2007. He has been held in great affection by many generations of Lincoln Fellows and students, and by numerous colleagues.

The College was intended by Bishop Fleming to train clergy to confute the prevalent Lollard heresy, a precursor of the Protestant movement that was later to result in the Reformation. He had once been thought, unjustifiably, to sympathise with Lollard
