New Buildings and Renovations

This page aims to keep the Lincoln community updated on the building work and renovations that are going on at College. Below is some information on the most recently completed projects, and those that are ongoing.

The Berrow Foundation Building

This major building and renovation project was completed in March 2015. Now it is open the College has a new and much needed larger MCR, music practice rooms and a refurbished Oakeshott room. We are confident that the results of this work will be very worthwhile - it will provide the College with much needed additional space for use by College members and guests, as well as facilities for external customers.

The NatWest Building

In June 2013 the College officially exchanged contracts with the Royal Bank of Scotland for the purchase of the NatWest building on the High Street. The building has been long coveted by the College, and the completion of this purchase sees the finalisation of plans begun long ago to own the majority of the section of land of which Bear Lane forms the southern border. Opportunities to expand in such a historic area are rare and competition was high, so we are delighted to finalise ownership and begin to develop plans for the refurbishment and use of the building.

The Dame Louise Johnson Building

Thanks to a generous grant from the EPA trust, work has recently been completed on the new graduate accommodation on Little Clarendon Street. The building has been undergoing renovation since the College purchased it and the finished result is of a very high standard. The property will accommodate 37 of our graduate students in en-suite bedrooms. This new accommodation will allow the College to meet its aspiration to be able to provide first and second year graduate students with College housing, should they request it. We are also pleased to say that the accommodation has two fully accessible rooms and lift access. The first graduate residents will be moving in at the start of Michaelmas 2013.

The Turl Yard

The Turl Yard area, previously the Turl Tavern, was renovated in 2012 after the College decided to use the area for seminar rooms rather than leasing it out as a public house. The result of the renovation has been truly impressive; a functional and modern space has been created whilst still maintaining original features such as the old fireplace. In addition, lift access to parts of the Mitre was also added which is a significant improvement.
