Professor Stefan Enchelmaier

Professor and Tutorial Fellow in Jurisprudence

I studied law, philosophy, and Latin at the Universities of Cologne, Hamburg, and Edinburgh; obtained my doctorate from the University of Bonn with a thesis on European competition law, and my habilitation from the University of Munich with a thesis on comparative Anglo-German personal property law. After a stint in practice, I held posts in Oxford (1997-2003); Max-Planck-Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law, Munich (2003-2008); and York (2008-2013). My research interests are in comparative corporate insolvency, comparative company law, and European Union economic law. I am involved in the teaching of company and corporate insolvency law, European Union law, Roman law, and contract law.
